Klahanie is a Polygon master planned community along the inlet on Port Moody's west side, built through the mid 2000s. Townhouses, low rise condos and two towers share one thing, the Canoe Club, a 15,000 square foot amenity centre that belongs to the residents alone.
There is almost no retail inside the pocket, and that is the point. It stays quiet and residential, with the Shoreline Trail on its doorstep and the villages of Suter Brook and Newport a short walk east when you want them.
50 Electronic Avenue and 55 Klahanie Drive and 3131 Murray Street · from $575,000
Klahanie keeps its daily life deliberately small. One cafe, one big residents club and the trail. Everything else sits a short walk east in the two villages, and residents treat that split as the feature, not the flaw.
There is no store inside Klahanie itself. The daily run goes east, Thrifty Foods in Suter Brook Village is the anchor grocery and within walking distance of the towers, Inlet Pharmacy sits right beside the pocket at 50 Electronic Avenue, and Newport Village covers the specialty side.
Caffe Divano at 101 Klahanie Drive is the pocket's own cafe, coffee, baked goods and breakfast at the Indigo townhouses, and a genuine neighbourhood living room. Everything beyond that is a walk east, Brewers Row on Murray Street, then the Suter Brook and Newport restaurant rows.
Banks, clinics and vets all live in the villages east of the pocket, TD and Vancity in Suter Brook, the Newport Village Animal Hospital up Ioco Road. Inside Klahanie, the Canoe Club office is the community's own service point for bookings and resident amenities.
The Canoe Club is the headline, an outdoor pool, hot tub, tennis courts, gym, theatre room and guest suites across 15,000 square feet at 501 Klahanie Drive, residents only. The Shoreline Trail runs along the inlet right below the pocket toward Rocky Point Park, and Inlet Park's sports fields sit at the west end of Murray Street.
Nothing civic sits inside the pocket. City hall, the public library and the Inlet Theatre over at Newport Drive are Klahanie's civic home, and inside the pocket the Canoe Club's theatre room and bookable spaces do the gathering work.
Moody Centre Station is the pocket's rail hub, SkyTrain plus the West Coast Express, which the community counts at about 25 minutes to downtown. Buses stop on Murray Street at Klahanie Drive, and St. Johns Street and the Barnet Highway carry the drive west.

Klahanie homes with a Canoe Club lifestyle and an inlet trail out front move at their own pace. Join the watch list for this pocket and Lucas will flag new Klahanie listings as they land, plus the ones that never make the public sites.
